Given the busy lifestyles we all have in the 21st Century, we can hardly take out time to do enough work to make ends meet. Relationships are becoming loose, attitudes casual, and the materialistic things more and more indispensable. However, we all need to figure something out for ourselves in this world itself as there is just one life that we are sure that we have. As Oscar Wilde said, “To live is the rarest thing in the world, most people exist, that is all.” Here are some must do’s to be one of those few who actually live and inspire more people to live.
1. Love something for your own passion
Cliché as it sounds, it is true. Loving is the best way to feel alive. You can love a partner, your children, your best friends or your parents and siblings but you need something more individualistic to really live. Your life maybe just as perfect and normal as anybody else’s and you still may be dissatisfied and there is nothing wrong with it. What you need is find something, and not someone to fall in love with. Most of us are not excellent but we all do have a creative side. Find yours and fall in love with it, and practice it just because you like it. If this reminds you of that Albert Einstein quote about tying your life to a goal and not to people, you have got the point.
2. Eat what you like and workout a little
For some, ‘food’ is synonymous to ‘love’ while some are just not so into it. There is no right amount of food no matter what beauty and fitness magazines say. You must eat what you like and keep fit by exercising at least for 20 minutes a day. This way you will not be frustrated about having to abstain from pizza or chocolate and also have a healthy routine. If you are worried about your weight, let it go. You may be a curvy or skinny man or woman. All you need to look good is confidence and self-care.
3. Take a break and give yourself some quality time
What you need the most to really start living is introspection and that cannot happen unless you get some time to yourself. Take a break from work once in a while, take a break from the TV, the news, the magazines and newspapers, from your daily routine and specially, from the internet and video games. Don’t use this as an excuse for procrastination though. Just take out enough time to make yourself feel better and reflect on where you stand and where you want to be.
4. Go out, make friends
Go on a date without commitment if you’re not ready but without anything nasty like cheating either. Talk to people of the gender you like and get to know new people. Just make new companions if not to date, to just give company sometimes. You need to meet like-minded friends or cousins, grab a beer, have a heart-to-heart and you will figure out that you’re not the only one who is so messed up that you don’t even know why you’re messed up! Make friends and enjoy the time with these new friends without bringing in too much of the parts of your life you’re not happy about and you will soon find a new dimension.
5. Be brave
Because that’s what you need to be yourself and that’s what you need to go for it. Don’t wait for others to approve of you but appreciate those who support you and just do whatever is good for you anyway, of course, unless you are a sadist.
6. Stay away from negativity
In order to really live, you need positivity around you and that can come from within you as well. But what you need to ensure is to not let negative people into your mind. For example, whatever kind of body you may have, negative people will either call you ‘a lump of fat’ or ‘fit for the bones’. You are wise enough to ignore them and spend time with people who prefer using terms like ‘chubby’, ‘buxom’, ‘petite’ or ‘slender’.
It’s that simple. Eat what you like, find something you’re passionate about, hang out with old and new like-minded friends and filter out the useless stench of negativity and you will find yourself living life!
