Independence Day is celebrated in every country with great joy, splendor and respect for their nation and mother land. Independence Day is desiccated to the brave fighters and leaders who brought freedom to their nation and freed their motherland. This day is of great importance to every national and individual. This is observed as a national holiday and every country has its own unique way of celebrating this auspicious day. Appended are different ways of celebrating this great and eventful day in different countries in their own unique ways.
1. The Indian celebrations on Independence Day (15th of August)
- The Traditional Way- It is observed as a national holiday in all Indian states and union territories.On Independence Day the prime minister of India hoists the Tri Color National Flag on the site of the historical Red Fort in Delhi.
- To honor the solemn occasion 21 gun shots are fired. The Indian National anthem “Jan Gana Mana” is also sung.
- The different divisions of the Indian armed forces host the march past which is followed by the speech from the Indian prime minister. Parades and various cultural programs are showcased from the diverse cultural traditions in India.
- The chief Ministers of various sates in India also unfurl the national flag and witness the different and eventful cultural programs organized on this occasion. Along with the Government and Non Government institutions the schools and colleges also participate in the flag hoisting ceremonies and organize various cultural programs across the country.
- All major buildings and streets in India are lighted up with strings of lights. Replicas of tri color are put on cars buildings and also used as face paints by the citizens of this country.
- Sweets are distributed in to the children in schools after the flag hoisting ceremony. Families and friends meet up and go out on dinner and other enjoyment activities on this day. The movie channels entertain their viewers by showcasing old and new patriotic movies.
- Hundreds of colorful Kites are seen flying high in the sky as a way to express freedom. Tri color balloons are also set free in the sky to celebrate this great day.
2. The Pakistani Celebrations on Independence Day (4th of August)
- The traditional way- Independence Day 14th of August is one of the six Republic holidays in Pakistan and it is celebrated all across the country.
- Local Governments in the Provincial Capitals get involved in the planning for this great day by hosting meetings which are attended by all government officials, diplomats and politicians.
- Special stalls & shops put up across the country sell the national flags, buntings banners and posters of their National heroes.
- The streets are decorated with the national flags and buntings.Social cultural activities, seminars and also sport competitions are organized on the Independence Day.
- In the capital city of Pakistan special drives are conducted to clean the mosques on the Independence Day. The official celebrations of this day begin in Islamabad and start with rising of the national Flag followed by 31 Gun Salutes.
- Government Officials and Political Leaders host various rallies and speeches highlighting Pakistani achievements and Goals for the future. Citizens of Pakistan dress up in Pakistan’s official colors, green and white on this day.
- Various important Government and other buildings are illuminated with lights and bright colors. Streets are decorated with candles, oil lamps and fireworks are also an important part of the celebration.
- Homage is paid to the martyrs of Pakistani Army and recipients of Nishan –e-Haider.
3. Celebrations on the 4th of July American Independence Day
- The American Independence Day – fourth of July the American Independence Day is a Federal holiday in the United States. On this day in 1776 America was declared free from ruling Great Britain.
- Americans celebrate this day with fireworks, barbecues, parades, fairs carnivals, picnic, family reunions and baseball games.
- In Miami Florida one of its tallest buildings hosts firework shows in the national color of red white and blue on Independence Day. The New York City also celebrates this day by hosting attractive firework shows over the East Village.
- The Bristol Fourth of July Parade in Bristol, Rhode Island is historic celebration for the Independence Day. Danish American Friendship Organization holds July 4 weekend festival as its celebration.
- Major and Minor League baseball games are played on Independence Day. The Annual 10 kilometers Peachtree Road Race is held in Atlanta, Georgia.
- Nathan’s Hot Dog eating competition is organized since 1972 on this day in Coney Island, Brooklyn. Boston Pops Orchestra hosts music and firework show over the Charles River.
4. Celebrations in Colombia on Independence Day
- The Celebrations in Colombia- 20th of July is celebrated as the Independence Day in Colombia. The land of Colombia is located in the northern part of South America and it gained its freedom on the 20th of July 2010 from Spain.
- The land of Colombia shares its borders with the Caribbean Sea. All offices, schools and colleges remain close on this important day. Various festivals and events are held in different cities and towns of the country.
- Traditional Folk dances and songs are also involved in the celebration of the Colombian Independence Day.
