You may award your mom or wife as a ‘Super Chef’ for the kind of food she prepares. However, she can’t be called a professional chef as she does not cook to earn something out of it. A professional chef is someone who has high skills in professional cooking and knows everything related to different kinds of cuisines and their preparations. He makes sure that you return to the restaurant or hotel, just by tasting the food as it is one of his qualities to lure someone with his wonderful cooking skills. If you think you have it all in you to be known as a professional chef, we are here to give you the following three tips that would help you become a professional in the world of cuisines:
1. Get a Hotel Management degree:
There is no harm is getting all the knowledge that you can about the world of Hotels and Restaurants. If you get a degree in Hotel Management, you not only get to cook like a professional but you also earn information about how the entire management in Hotel works. Thus, getting a degree in your field of interest is always suggested as the number one tip to turn into a professional chef.
2. Get trained to be a chef:
There are various cookery classes and you are sure to find a few local ones as well. If you have already got a Hotel Management degree, you can choose to skip this tip. However, learning a bit more won’t harm. Therefore, join a good cookery class to make sure that you know a little bit of everything about different kinds of cuisines. Every country has its own specialty and it is difficult to learn all kinds of cuisines made in different countries. However, learning the special and popular ones is essential for a professional chef.
3. Love the food and let the food love you:
There’s a saying that people who have that *thing called love* in their hands while preparing food, cook everything delicious, even if their food is plain and simple. Therefore, it is necessary for you to love eating food and turn into a high time foodie (maintaining your health, of course) so that you make and invent something by tasting different kinds of food. Trust us, if you love food, the food will love you in return and you can thus prepare tongue delighting dishes to remember forever.
4. Find a job in a local restaurant for the time being:
Nothing is learnt by being in the four walls of your house or college. Unless and until you don’t get to gel with professionals, you can never turn into one yourself. Once you think you are educated and learnt enough to get a job in a local restaurant, don’t hesitate. Make job portals your best friends and put down your resume to find a good job. You can also go for walk-in interviews and make your special dishes to impress the management to make the team hire you as a part of the kitchen. Once you start working somewhere, even if it is under the master or head chef, you would get to learn a lot and this learning can be used as a weapon in future, to impress others by your food. Remember to have patience as nothing comes overnight, not even luck!
5. Cook at home for the entire family:
Invite your relatives and friends at times and make sure when they visit your house, you cook them. This would let you practice cooking and experiment your skills on the known ones. Tell them to give their honest feedbacks so that you know whether what you make is good enough to be tasted by others back at the restaurant or not. This would help you invent your own dishes as well.
