Though many of us have a problem trying to shed fat, there are an equal number of people who try to gain fat as they are too thin. Even if they do not have a problem with their appetites they are hardly able to put on a little weight. If you happen to be underweight and wish to cover those bones with some healthy weight follow these tips and you will soon find that you are on the right track.
Here are a few tips that will help you to overcome this problem and become fat.
- Increase the meals from three to five or six times a day. Eat smaller portions but ensure that you eat nutritious foods. This includes carbohydrates and proteins that will help you gain weight. Think of all those overweight friends who envy you when you gorge on healthy snacks such as cheese, peanut butter, dried fruits and nuts!
- Do not eat foods that contain sugars as you require calories that help you gain weight in a healthy way. Sodas and milk shakes with heavy cream should be avoided. Instead you can opt for milkshakes and smoothies with tons of fresh fruits, low-fat milk and nuts thrown in for added flavor.
- Eat good portions of meat to get some good muscles and a better shape to your lean frame. Exercise lightly and work up that appetite. Avoid drinking water before your meals as this will fill you up. Try to avoid processed foods and eat foods that are not dripping with saturated fats. Increase your intake of good oils such as olive oil and eat fruit pies, granola bars and muffins that have bran in them. Eat avocadoes and bananas.
- Include good proteins in your diet. These are especially good for your bones and skin. Your hair will grow and your entire body will benefit when you eat foods such as eggs, meat, fish, cheese, yoghurt and drink milk. If you are a vegetarian you can eat beans, corn, tofu, rice and yoghurt.
- Learn about the different types of carbs when you wish to gain weight. Avoid simple carbs that only add to the calories but do not help you gain physical weight. Eat pasta, whole grains and potatoes. Do not hesitate to add butter to your foods. Brown rice and whole grains are healthy as well as give you the energy required to cope with whatever the day may bring. When you eat such foods, the energy supplied to your body is gradual and continuous and when you are on the move, there are fewer chances of your body storing fat and causing those layers to appear on your stomach.
- Enjoy a good dessert. Remember that you are one of the chosen few who can afford to eat late at night and top up your dinner with a great dessert! This will increase the body mass index and help you put on the desired weight.
- Exercise regularly and you will notice that your appetite improves when you perform crunches and squats. Gorge on protein shakes and bars whenever you feel the need to eat something. Gradually increase the time you spend exercising and work on those muscles that will help you get into “good shape”.
Exercise and eating at the right times go hand in hand. When you feel you have reached your desired weight gain, stop and take yourself in hand. Continue to eat but start counting your calories and increase your workouts. Do not lead a sedentary life as that will only bring on the excess fat which you should try to avoid at all times.
